MIKE SCHMITT | FRESHLY BUILT

June 7, 2013

Mike Schmitt is a madman when it comes to the big and burly. He’s always throwing himself onto the craziest hubbas and taking some of the hardest falls. Seitaro shot this photo of him racking a pedal feeble down a freshly built hubba here in San Francisco. Expect to see more of Mike in an upcoming Grime Video.

OMAR SEBAI | WHEEL TALK

June 5, 2013

Omar Sebai is a 16 year old shredder from Southern California, and is the newest member to the Wheel Talk Youngbloods team. He’s one of the funniest kids I’ve ever met and has barspins down better than I could ever dream. He came and stayed at my pad in SF for a few days during Spring Break, and was able to film enough in both SF and SJ to put together this nice introduction. So kick back, relax and enjoy this minute and a half video of Omar Sebai. Click the read more button below to see some screen shots from the video.

MATT REYES | CHURCH & DUBOCE

June 5, 2013

It’s rare to see me riding rails, but figured I’d catch at least one double peg clip for an edit I’ve been working on while the homies were in town. I wonder if the city knew what they were doing when they installed this steel playground along one of the muni stops in our neighborhood. Photo Credit : Seitaro Iki (top) & Dew Sippawit (bottom)

#WHEELTALK | MAY 2013

June 5, 2013

With everyone coming through for Ride and Style, May was an interesting month for us over at the Wheel Talk Manor. The Thai dudes Dew Sippawit and Jaoa Danaikrit stayed with us for most of the month after the event. During which time we cruised around the city and caught clips at spots we rarely ever ride. We put on a demo for a first grade class in the park, watched Dew practice turndowns on the ground, and taught Omar + JBall the true meaning of hardstyle. Hashtag #wheeltalk if you want to see your photos up here next month.

DESTROY BIKES 22MM CRANKS

June 4, 2013

Jeff Dempler put together this video of his new 22mm “Hella Blasted” Crank arms from Destroy Bikes. Made in the USA, these cranks are full 4130 steel with a 22mm 48 splined spindle that is hollowed out to make it both stronger and lighter than a normal 19mm spindle. They come powder coated black with sand blasted logos, and are available without the cross for all you atheists out there.

Skratch Labs Portables

June 3, 2013

Cycling, food, and beer. If you don’t thinks these three things go together like peas in a pod then you haven’t ridden yourself to the point of being completely drained. If you have, and you know the horrendous feeling of a bonk, or the magnificence of a cold beer after a hot ride, then this post is for you! For too long of a time I have forced gels, and dense protein bars down my throat during rides to keep me fueled. I say “forced” because these unappealing foods made eating while riding a chore and something I would tend to forget out until it was too late. I was tired of this and slowly started going back to “normal” food, food that I could easily make and would look forward to eating. It started with just bringing a banana and a Nutella sandwich, but then I saw Skratch Labs was releasing a second book all about portables. I got on the preorder, and as soon as the book arrived I was excited and immediately wanted to make something.

DEW SIPPAWIT | NOLLIE BARSPIN

May 28, 2013

A couple days ago I took this sequence shot of Dew Sippawit throwing a nollie barspin at the library here in The City. He has that trick better than anybody I’ve ever seen, and could easily be his signature move if he was a character in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. I’ve been filming with him a ton since he’s been in the states, and have stacked up more than enough to put something together. Be on the look out for a video of him shredding the Bay coming soon.
