FIXIE GOONS – JULY RIDE OUT (DA GOON CAT)

December 12, 2019

FIXIE GOONS Ride Outs are always a good time. If you’ve never been to one, I suggest you mark your calendar and come out. They happen at the end of every month here in Los Angeles. Bloc Boi Fame leads the pack and wrangles together the crew. Which usually turns out to be a couple hundred people. All of which are more than decent at keeping that front wheel up.

Terms like “Don’t panic” & “Keep that wheel up” are often hollered throughout the pack.

Follow @BLOCBOIFAME for more info on the next get together.

HANGING OUT IN DOWN TOWN LOS ANGELES

November 27, 2019

Who else remembers or even better, owned a TRK at some point? I remember when Leader Bikes first came out with this frame. It was everybody’s dream bike that year, and the paint job on this one truly makes it one of a kind. I like the big LA cutout on the head tube.

At the end of a long day, there’s nothing better than finding a good old parking garage with roof access. We linked up with a few friends in DTLA and did exactly that. Willy showed up with this KONA he just started riding. He’s already standing on the saddle, kicking legs, riding manuals on the chain stays. The kid’s wild.

FIXED GEAR LA – SAM ALLGOOD CAME TO TOWN

November 10, 2019

All’s well that ends well. Sam Allgood the “@FIXEDGEARGOD” came to Los Angeles the day before I left for Germany. I was hoping to have more time to hang out and ride with the man, but had to settle with a single afternoon of fun in DTLA. The shirtless photos of Sam were taken the day before he got the word FIXIE blasted across his chest. Click here to see what I’m talking about if you haven’t already seen it for yourself. Now that’s what I call dedication.

Sam has been in the Fixie game for as long as I’ve known about it. Even going as far as to film some of the riders I grew up watching. He always keeps a camera on him and his YOUTUBE CHANNEL makes it feel like you’re hanging out with the man. Check it out when you get a chance and until then there are more photos below.

FGFS LA – MARCO MARQUEZ & TADASHI NAKAMURA

October 30, 2019

Tadashi Nakamura & I linked up with Marco Marquez and some of the other homies in Culver City and rode around for a bit. I’m always caught off guard by how explosive Marco’s riding style is. It’s unbelievably snappy and every trick is as textbook & tucked as it can possibly be. He took a little bit of a tumble hucking 180s over this blue brick barrier. Landed it clean the first few times for video, but slammed once we tried to take photos of it. It’s funny how that works.

Anyways, shout out to CHARI & CO for keeping our dude Tadashi freshly clothed so we had a reason to film for something while he was here. Keep your eyes peeled for that coming at ya real, real soon. More photos below.

FGFS LA – THE INFINITE SPRAWL

October 2, 2019

After I got home, I flipped through the camera and thought to myself… I should have taken way more photos. JBALL, Deacon, Tadashi, Nico & I met up in Santa Monica to ride a couple schools that MTS put us in touch with. I need to start making a map of spots out here because things aren’t as close as we’re used to. LA is a big place and it doesn’t really seem to have an edge until you hit the ocean. It just sprawls out infinitely. It seems like most spots are only accessible via automobile. That’s somewhat of an exaggeration, but you’re definitely going to have to drive to meet up with your friends. That’s what these dudes did. Thanks again for coming over to our neck of the woods to ride before Tadashi flew back home. We’ll have to make it a slumber party next time.

FIXIE GOON RIDE – MAY 2019 PHOTOS

July 27, 2019

Here we go again. Tomorrow is yet another FIXIE GOONS ride here in Los Angeles and this one is going to be the biggest event of the Summer. BlocBoi Fame is coming through with $100 for the winner of the Alleycat & a brand new bike (Da Goon by Throne) for the winner of the wheelie comp. Meet up at (3459 McManus Ave Culver City, CA 90232) at 11, rollout at 12:30 and we’ll figure out the rest from there. If you’re reading this and live in the area, then we’ll see you tomorrow. Until then here are a bunch of photos from the Goon Ride back in May.

Young Tool came out and crushed it like always. He’s got the meanest swerves on a FGFS setup, and has a couple extra tricks up his sleeve because of the fixed gear drivetrain. It’s always great seeing the community come together like this and a major shout out to BlocBoi Fame for making all happen. Month after month, year after year, he’s been about the community for forever.

FIXED GEAR LA – JOHNATHAN BALL

July 17, 2019

Johnathan Ball, better known as JBALL has been riding fixed gear since… well you’ll have to ask him how long exactly, but a long time. Let’s just say that. He’s unreal on a FGFS bike and even better on 700c x 28c tires. From throwing bar spins off rooftops to spinning fish n’ chips till your mind melts, JBALL makes it look easy.

The morning of the second Tracklocross race here in Los Angeles, JBALL hit me up wanting to ride bikes. After shooting photos of the race, I met up with him in downtown and rode around for a couple hours stacking a ton of clips in a short amount of time. CLICK HERE to check out the video we made entitled “Second Nature”.
