Where do I go when my bike needs a tune up? Cykel. It’s one of those bike shops in San Francisco that’s tucked away in a small space that you would miss if you didn’t know what you were looking for. The shop has a wide selection of Focus bikes which is what originally drove me to start taking my Focus bike there. They have deep knowledge and passion for what they do, and it shows in everything they do from the shop layout to detail that they take in making sure your bike is fit 100% correctly.
Jeff Dempler sent me this shot of him riding at the school down the street from the neighborhood we grew up in. There’s nothing more nostalgic than coming back to a spot where you learned how to ride. It immediately takes me back to a more simple time, when all you needed was a basketball court or empty parking lot to have a good time. It’s good to see photos of Jeff still crushing it. Here’s a couple screen shots of me riding this ledge we came up on off the freeway in SJ. There’s nothing better than stumbling upon a spot and finding out it’s all buttered up and ready. I’m just about done filming for a new web edit, and just need to wrap it up w/ a few more bangers. Should be done in the next few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled for that coming down the pipeline.
Here’s a shot of Jeff Dempler riding in his current hometown of San Jose California. Nothing rocks my wrists like tucking off huge stair sets and drops, which is why I rarely ever do so. Jeff seems to have no problem throwing himself off this 8 stair at SJSU. I’m digging the look of that golden frame he’s been riding.
I popped off this photo moments after Ed Wonka took down Big Brown a couple weeks ago. You only get one shot riding hammers like this, and one shot is all Ed needed before making it out alive and skidding into the fence below. Either hit it w/ complete confidence or don’t hit it at all.

This weekend I hung out w/ Jeff Dempler + the guys from Destroy Bicycles at 3rd & Army. I rolled up the spot to find that there was “Fuck Fest 5” a punk concert going on. I Spent most of the day experimenting w/ some new combos, and ended up with this. A little trick I like to call the “Whatchamacallit” and the “Whatchamacallit Bar”. It’s basically a pedal feeble nack nack w/ or w/o the barspin for added flavor. The next time you’re bored at a spot, go ahead and give it a try.
Tom LaMarche just dropped this video of him crushing shit in Chicago. He’s one of the few riders that I look forward to seeing videos of, his 360 off the garage is hands down the biggest I’ve ever seen on fixed. Big thanks to Rick Anderson and MurderB, who were there to capture all the mayhem. Photo Credit : Rick Anderson
