BIKE CHECK – MATT REYES’ AFFINITY LOPRO 18% GREY

December 29, 2018

Slam Dunk Ernie has a bike of his own, and this is it. Shortly after breaking my collar bone, MASHSF came out with their front rack / bag combo. Immediately knew I’d have to scoop one up for Big Ern. He loves it btw. Anyways here’s what my Affinity LoPro setup currently looks like. It’s really starting to feel dialed in. Everything from the gray Musguards to the gray/white water bottle setup. FGFS PDX – TADASHI NAKAMURA PHOTOS

December 28, 2018

We had a lot of fun shooting “Complete the Circle” when Tadashi Nakamura was in Portland. He’s become a really close friend over the years and this is now the second time he’s traveled from Japan to ride bikes with us in the States. Those of you who have ridden FGFS already know how difficult it can be and Tadashi has clearly been doing this for a while. He had an easy time hopping on every handrail we came across. Portland has some great alleyways and often times we’ll take the road less traveled just to mix things up a bit. Check out more photos below and watch the “Tadashi VIDEO” if you haven’t already. Until next time.

SLAM DUNK ERNIE – SEA OF LEAVES

December 26, 2018

Take it or leaf it. Last winter we made a video of everybody’s favorite Maltipoo in the snow and this year we decided to shoot another little jammer as the seasons were changing. You can’t play in yellow snow, but you sure can play in yellow leaves. Fall is a special time in Portland and we really wanted to film something of Ernie playing in a sea of leaves while we could. The trees are bare now, but this video will help us remember what things looked like on a windy day at “The Rose Gardens” in Peninsula Park. SONG: JEF – why god?

FGFS PDX – TADASHI NAKAMURA “COMPLETE THE CIRCLE”

December 19, 2018

“Uhhm, okay.” – Tadashi Nakamura said those words a lot during his time with us. Mostly after we just finished coaxing him into going for a clip, but sometimes after we asked a complicated question. We have a lotta love for Tadashi. He stayed with us back when we used to live in the Tenderloin in SF. Check out that video HERE. That was a crazy house.

Anyways… Let’s get back to our time in Portland. After Jaoa left, Tadashi took over his room and rotated in giving us a chance to shoot this quick video before he flew back to Japan. Which I’m really glad we did and don’t know why we didn’t think to film more sooner. It’s amazing what we can do with only a handful of film days. Until next time my dude. ✌

BIKE CHECK – GAVIN REAR’S MUIRANDESSI BUILD

December 3, 2018

The homie Gavin Rear recently came by CHROME HQ to use the studio for a school project and while he was there I took a couple photos of his Muirandessi Track Build. The sparkle paint on this bike is definitely one of the best parts about it. We had to pull the lighting forward and shoot it pretty square to get the sparkle effect to pop. Everytime I see Gavin he’s on a different bike, each one as rad as the last. Shortly after we shot these photos he disassembled this bike and built up something different. We’ll have to wheel his new whip into the studio sometime and get his most current setup.

FIXED GEAR PORTLAND – SEASONS CHANGE PHOTOS

December 2, 2018

The photos to accompany the video. Here are a handful of shots Sam Allgood and I caught while filming our latest video “Seasons Change”. If you haven’t seen it already, just go ahead and click the link, or scroll down to the post. It’s been really great having Sam in town. He made the move out here from SLC a while back, and this felt like the first time we’ve really hung out since he’s been out here. I can already tell that we’ll be kicking it and trying to make a lot more videos together. Check out some of the videos Sam makes and hit that subscribe button fam. You know what’s good. Okay, that’s enough for now, scroll around and we’ll talk at you later.

CRANKSGIVING 2018

November 26, 2018

The yearly Turkey Trot. Every year Bryan Dempler, Tobi Whaley and I go on our Thanksgiving day ride before we sit down and feast for the evening. We’ve hit the same route for the last 3 years running, and I don’t think we should ever change it. It’s starting to feel like a tradition at this point. There’s strength in repetition, and it’s a fun challenge to try and shoot it differently every time.

With rains the days before and morning leading up to our launch, things were still pretty wet. Especially once we hit the not so dusty trail on our decent back into town. Every couple of feet we had to push out tacky clay that had begun to accumulate in our wheels and tight clearance points. We were all getting tired of having to find a new stick strong enough for the job, but after hopping a couple fences, dodging a few cows and b-lining across some fields, we finally made it back to the main road. Check out photos from other years HERE and we’ll see you next time.

FIXED GEAR PORTLAND – SEASONS CHANGE

November 22, 2018

Name 3 things you’re thankful for. Us; Fixies, Friends, Good times. Last Saturday, Sam Allgood and I met up to ride around downtown Portland. We stumbled across a protest in the middle of our ride and rode alongside some one wheel, street bike ninja who demonstrated his karate skills (see video for details). Shout out the homie @DRGNKIDD (Jeff Osborn) for the soundtrack and Sam for tag teaming the filming of this video. Keep your eyes peeled for more videos coming from Sam and I.
