San Francisco’s legendary Mission Crit popped off over the weekend with 6 days packed full of track bike racing & mayhem. The event tee’d off on Wednesday at Hellyer Velodrome, then moved back up to The City on Thursday with an alleycat + registration. Things then heated up on Friday night with a short circuit race held at an indoor go-kart track. This event brought to life the term “rubbing is racing” as riders were sent over the knee high barricades more than a handful of times (Video evidence HERE).
All of which brought us to Saturday’s main event, the Mission Criterium. Riders from around the globe came to partake in what has become the largest fixed gear race on the planet. With that being said, I’d like to take a moment and give huge shoutout to James Grady, the countless volunteers and everyone who helped to bring the fixed gear community together for this incredibly memorable moment. Things wouldn’t be the same without all of your continuous efforts. (More info on Mission Crit + the Fixed Gear Triple Crown can be found HERE)
After all was said and done there wasn’t a single person without a smile on their face. The course was cleared and the streets that were shutdown for the race were graciously given back to the city until we could do it all over again next year. If racers weren’t tired yet they could look forward to the Tracklocross race on Sunday followed by the “Giro di San Francisco” on Monday. If you raced all 6 days or even showed up to all 6 events, then go ahead and give yourself a massive pat on the back. It’s probably a good time to take it easy as we hopefully exit out of this mind numbing heat wave here in California. 🥵 🏁

Any given Thursday. You know the drill, every Thursday we meet up in San Francisco to ride track bikes and do a quick jaunt around the city. Patrick Fixie King usually hosts the ride out and posts the route the day before. We’ve done this route in years past, but have never captured it on video, until now that is. Shout out to everyone who comes out to these and if you live in the area, you should definitely come ride with us sometime. The more the merrier. We’ll see you next time.
Fixed Gear Los Angeles. More specifically Broadway in the middle of DTLA. Guillermo Galindo & I did some laps up and down one of the more iconic streets in LA. We shot this right before I moved and I’m sure glad we did because it brings back some fond memories. Thanks for being here and joining us on this adventure through life.
Fixed Gear Bike check of the homie Bryan Dempler’s Low Track build. Bryan recently moved from San Francisco to LA. As we packed up the van we realized that there wasn’t going to be enough room to fit his bike. So I rode it to my house. Where it sat. For months… and months. Enough months that it collected some serious dust and feathers sitting in my bedroom. Recently I was able to get it back to him, but before I did I decided to shoot this bike check in Chinatown as a final sendoff.

Filmed in 2017, this was a video I made but never released. After taking a short hiatus from posting videos, I figured I’d share something from the unseen archives. All the follow shots in this were filmed with a glide cam & skateboard. Comment the first familiar face you see in this video. 🙂 Thanks for being here and I’ll see you on the next upload.

Just your average Saturday here in the Bay Area. I have a video to go along with this day. I just need to carve out some time to edit it. My computer has been running disastrously slow these days and I think it’s about time I get a new one. Easier said than done. At any rate I’ve got a lot of projects that I’m eager to get both off my plate and out into the world. We have such a great time during these meetups and it’s a blessing that we’re able to share it with our friends around the world. It’s a truly special time we live in. Cherish every moment of it and find some time to disconnect, reconnect and be outside.

Before 2020 came to a close, the boys and I met up at Kezar Stadium to do what we always do. Only this time we were headed to the beach. The sun was out for all of 15 minutes when we first met up. Then after that, the Sunset district lived up to its name. I’m grateful to have friends like this and hope you enjoy watching this video just as much as we enjoyed making it.
FIXED GEAR FREESTYLE. Also known as FGFS. Maybe you’ve heard of it, maybe you haven’t. Maybe you even had one or still have one and already know what I’m talking about. Either way, it’s still here and we’re still having just as much fun on it as we always have.
It’s really cool to see how strong of friends we’ve all become and remained over the last decade. The scene out here has been meeting up every Saturday for a session in either SF or Oakland. They’ve been boarding everything up in San Francisco and I took that opportunity to use some of the painted plywood to shoot everybody’s FGFS Build.
There’s a lineup of 10 different setups in this post, take a look and let us know in the comment which one you like best. If you could keep one bike, which one would it be?
