Mike Schmitt just recently got his bike back from Puerto Rico after leaving it there for 4 months while he was in recovery. He was out for a while, but is now back in full effect and rides around the city with me. We’ve been filming a ton and plan to drop a little something when the time is right. Zane just dropped this teaser for the 2nd issue of Can’t Fool The Youth. Devon has a full section in this issue, and there’s a huge chunk of clips from our trip to Seattle. I’ve grown to love that Chrome van after all the traveling we’ve done in it. Check out this video and you’ll see what I mean. I can’t wait to watch the full thing, which is going to be premiered at this year’s Red Bull Ride & Style.
There’s nothing better than mobbing around w/ your friends, it’s probably the best part about riding. Hitting obstacles as they come, and crushing shit along the way. Mike and I are constantly exploring Golden Gate Park by linking together different trails. We’re always stumbling upon new spots in locations we thought we knew well. My good friend and roommate Bryan Dempler popped off this photo of us crushing down one of the many off beaten paths.
If you don’t already know, Mike Schmitt has been off his bike ever since we left Puerto Rico. I’m sure most of you have seen the horrifying pictures he’s been posting of his wound. Here’s a photo of him gapping out to feeble while we were on tour in LA (Los Angeles) filming for Shredwell2. Mike’s hubba game is unreal, I don’t know how he’s so calm hucking himself onto the things he does. His balls must weigh a ton.
Here’s a couple screen shots I pulled from SHREDWELL2 of Mike Schmitt riding in down town San Jose. The dude standing next to him w/ the patch just wanted to come over and show the camera some love. The ledge leading into the Guadalupe River has to be the longest hubba I’ve ever seen anybody hit on fixed. Too many stairs to count, too locked in to care. Really digging that custom SW2 shirt he’s wearing.
Here’s a couple photos that TerryB took of all the homies hanging out at the Man Up or Shut Up pre party a couple weeks ago. We spent the night listening to music, watching old fixed videos, and drinking heavy thanks to an endless supply of free drink tickets. Here’s a photo that I took of Mike Schmitt posted up next to his freshly built Grime Ghost while we were on tour in Seattle. I feel like white bikes went out of style a couple years ago, as everybody veered away from matching color schemes and murdered out their ride w/ shades of black + chrome. Real stoked to see that The Grime is getting all Tony Montana w/ it, and brining back the white bike.
Here’s a couple photos that I took of Mike Schmitt while I was in SJ last weekend. He’s been riding with a thumb swollen to the size of a miniature blimp for a minute now. Despite all that, he still managed to hit this double peg stall at SJ State.
