SAN FRANCISCO – THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN

September 28, 2017

Home is where the heart is, and I left mine in San Francisco. Last week I traveled south and spent some time hanging out with friends / family in The Bay. It felt good to be back in a place where it’s hard to go more than 20 mintutes without running into someone you know. There’s something to be said about knowing people by name in every neighborhood you’re in.

One of the first familiar faces I ran into was my cousin Evian Reyes. We’re not really related, but we like to pretend we are. I don’t think I ever realized what a tall city San Francisco is. Maybe living in Portland has given me that perspective, but damn. There are some serious cloud scrapers starting to pop up in SF. I’ll have more photos to share over the next couple of days, until then enjoy these shots from day one. In the words of EARTHGANG – my partner always said that I’d go far if I stayed from around here.

BIKE CHECK – GARY ZHEN

September 4, 2017

Gary Zhen’s 93′ Cannondale Track. Anytime somebody wheeled a rad track bike into Chrome HQ I’d pull it into our makeshift studio and get some quick stills of it. I’m starting to acquire quite a few playing cards at this point. It feels like I’m back to playing Pokemon. Gotta catch em all. I’ll be getting the studio put back together this week and will be making a call to arms for anybody in Portland who wants their bike photographed. I’ll keep you posted. Until then check out this polished gem.

RED HOOK CRIT – BROOKLYN 2017

September 4, 2017

It’s like Nascar, but with fixies. With all of the excitement of everything going on in Barcelona this weekend I figured it would be proper to pull up some photos from the 10th Red Hook Crit in Brooklyn. I’m always stoked to be able to shoot this race for Chrome Industries and after filming Mission Crit the week before. The excitement was high.

The best part about these races are that they always feel like huge family reunions. People watching is a real close second though. I shot this year’s race with one camera and one lens. A fixed 50m. You can either bring it all or pack light. And after getting hit by a car the week before, I wasn’t trying to carry much of anything. This race just keeps getting bigger and I look forward to seeing where they take it next.

ANDY SPARKS & MIKE CHACON

November 15, 2016

There are only a handful of people who bridge the gap between track bikes and the common day FGFS build. Andy Sparks & Michael Chacon have been doing so for years. With no real agenda, we met up at the clocktower, rode around down town and put together one day jammer. This video was a true pleasure to piece together and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did filming it.

EVAN SERVICE – SF 2016

August 15, 2016

Evan Service is one rad dude. If you’ve ever met him you probably already know that, but it’s a statement worth repeating. I’m glad we had the chance to link up and film while he was in town last month on a romantic retreat. It wasn’t on the usual FGFS bike we all know and love, but I think you’ll enjoy what we have baking in the oven. Fixed gear is fixed gear and if you can throw tricks on your freestyle bike you can most certainly do the same on a track build. Sink your teeth into some of these shots and keep your eyes peeled for clips of Evan rolling out in the near future. Cheers.

I met Patrick Curley in Sacramento after NAHBS earlier this year and have been hanging out with him more and more now that he lives in San Francisco. He’s a part of the Sacaframa crew, which has created quite a name for themselves in the track scene over the last year. They’ve lit a fire under my ass and have played a huge part in getting me stoked on track bikes again. Check out more photos of Patrick with his MASH Cinelli Bolt below and be on the look out for more coming soon.
