With a short break in the rain, Slam Dunk Ernie and I met up with the boys (Andy Sparks & David Todd) in downtown San Francisco to ride, explore, and shoot this day video. The city always looks its best on a gloomy day and we decided to take full advantage of that. These sessions are always better when Ernie tags along. He’s the real MVP.

Andy Sparks breaks down his Fixed Gear Freestyle setup part by part, and walks us through every little detail. Andy’s bike has become an iconic part of him and has remained relatively unchanged for nearly a decade. After shooting this with him, it’s easy to see why he loves this build so much and it’s clear that Andy not only rides hard, but also knows how to take care of his things. In words of the man himself, “ride em until they don’t ride anymore.”
Check out a written version below and follow Andy’s YT Channel. He’s constantly posting tutorials and breaking down the inner workings of some of your favorite fixie tricks.
Andy Sparks, your favorite rider’s favorite rider. I rode with Andy a bunch while I was in SF last month. We filmed a bike check of his Trick Track setup and broke it down piece by piece. He talks about why he’s been running the same chain for the last 6 years and how every part isn’t done until it’s dusted. After that I shot a bunch of fisheye shots of him thrusting his signature bronco bunny hop technique. He almost landed on the camera a couple of times. I was able to get directly under him on a few of these. Anyhoo, shout out to Oakley (plug) and keep your eyes peeled for Andy’s Bike Check video coming soon.
Happy Cinco De Mayo Y’all. MASH SF always throws the best events, and on 5.5.19 we all got together in the park to celebrate the Anniversary of the shop on Sanchez st. With a ramp, a race, a bunch of parts for sale and plenty of food to go around we all had a blast getting gassed in the grass. Which looked a lot more green in person. I kinda got a thing against green grass and made it brown instead. (Concrete is king) Keep your eyes peeled for the video that we’ll drop on Monday and until then check out more photos below. Going the distance. The Wheel Talk video premiere / long jump contest popped off and here’s the proof. We had fixies sending it more than 15+ feet off the sketchy ramp that we brought to The Island. Speed was key. I can’t wait to make a video piece from all the action, so keep your eyes peeled and we’ll be having more premiere’s like this next month. Holler at me if you’re interested in hosting one of your own.
Shout out to Mission Workshop for letting us host the premiere at their house and MASH SF for keeping the fire burning.

Mission Crit popped off this year in San Francisco and I’m still outta breath from it. Hundreds of people flocked to the streets to endure some seriously heavy winds and a day full of racing. James Grady deserves an award for the hard work he puts into this event year after year. We wouldn’t have these good times if it wasn’t for his dedication to the community and love for the scene. Respect and thank you everyone else who helped out, volunteered, or lifted a finger to make this happen. We appreciate everything you do.
We through more high fives than we could count and screamed “FAAASTER” at just about everyone who raced. That being said, we’re going to let words take a back seat from here and let the photos do the talking. Ride fast, take chances, and have fun. We’ll catch you later.

If you’re not having fun, you’re not doing it right. Filmed on 05.20.2017 this is a video that almost slipped through the cracks. We just never got around to chopping it together. Until last night that is. There will be an even longer SF track bike video with more riders coming out in the next month. So keep your eyes peeled for that and until then enjoy this. Shout out to MASHSF for always giving us a place to hang and for constantly throwing gas on the fire.
420 is a special time of year in San Francisco. It’s celebrated as a national Holiday in The City. We celebrated in our own way by meeting up at the Island (as usual) and riding around until the 420 Alley Cat that they held the day before Mission Crit. Check out that video HERE. Chris “Thrasher” is outta control with those triangle stands downhill. Enough to make your palms sweat just watching the man. Andy sparks stays in the mix and Keo Kid is way too good with those back pedals. It was great having a bunch of people from outta town here for the big crit in The City. Mission Crit is going to be on 420 this year (2019) so mark your calendar and we’ll see you there.
