Mike Schmitt is always thinking out of the box, and trying to come up w/ unique ways of riding spots. He’s always setting up trash, bricks, and anything else he can find to make something sturdy enough to ride. Here’s a photo of him popping out of a smith on this rail that we rigged together beneath an overpass in San Jose. Creativity is key.
Here’s a pretty old photo of Joshua Boothby that I found floating around my machine. He’s so far up that tree, I don’t think he could get any higher w/ his nose pressed up against that branch. Boothby is one of the few people that prefers to ride w/ little to no foot retention. It’s gotta make it hard to stay connected to the bike when the drive train is always forcing your feet off the pedals. It sure doesn’t seem to effect him much.
Simon Andraca flew across the pond from Paris to ride in this year’s Red Bull Ride + Style. He stayed at our good friend Alex’s old house just a couple of blocks away from my pad in San Francisco. We did it up French Style the entire time they were here, riding during the day and raging at night. He went back to France for a hot min, but he’ll be back here in the States before you know it.
Alex Blanco got picked up by BreakBrake17 + Spike parts in the beginning of this year. iMiNUSD made this video so he could show off his new 2012 charmer. It’s about time Alex got picked up by a bike company, he’s been riding busted ass whips for as long as I can remember. Can’t wait to see what he does from here.
Jeff Dempler missed last year’s Ride + Style because he was at bike school in PDX. Which is why I was stoked when he got an invite to ride in it this year. Jeff has been pushing pedals for as long as I can remember, and was a really big influence to my riding when we 1st got into fixed. I love looking at different rider’s trick faces, JeffyD always has his tongue sticking out.
Joe McKeag was on a whole other level at this year’s Red Bull Ride + Style Comp. Throwing huge 5’s and crispy truck drivers off the big box jump like it was easy. All I have to say about McKeag’s riding is “Damn”. I couldn’t believe some of the tricks that were going down, the difference between BMX and Fixed Freestyle is quickly fading.
Corey San Agustin better known as “Pissy” (for reasons we won’t go into) was in SF for the Red Bull Ride + Style Event last weekend. And I’m sure glad he was, he’s one funny ass dude. Both him and Matt Spencer showed up to the even on their new 26″ bikes. There were only 3 people that I can think of that rode 29ers in the event. That number sure has dwindled down since last year.
Ape man Justin “Congo” Mitchell laid it down thick at this year’s Red Bull Ride + Style. This picture of him hitting a wallride in front of the judges came out too fresh. I can’t wait to see people start sticking inverted wallrides.
