FGFS LA – MARCO MARQUEZ CENTURY CITY

June 22, 2020

Cities within cities. LA is like that I guess. Century City is in between Hollywood & Santa Monica, but it’s basically a ghost town on the weekends. I met up with Marco Marquez there to stack some clips for a video we’ve been working on. The so called “city” is really only a 3-4 block radius. So after we got kicked out of the first spot it was hard to avoid being back in front of the same building dealing with the same security guard… Again, it’s a ghost town. Just us and security. A game as old as time.

A few clips, sand a couple heavy slams later we were back on the road. The only piece of concrete I guess we’re allowed to ride on. Haha. Marco did a couple surfs on our way to this cobble stone quarter pipe that I had spotted before. It’s mad bumpy and is a lot harder to ride than it looks. That being said, Marco still managed to boost up it a couple times for the photo. Keep your eyes peeled for the video part we just wrapped up and we’ll see you soon. This is Matt Reyes, signing off.

BMX GERMANY – JAOA DANAIKRIT (NEW TERRAIN)

June 16, 2020

Last summer we went on vacation to Germany and visited our good friend Jaoa Danaikrit. We basically grew up riding FGFS together and he used to come live at our house for 3 months out of the year. This time the tables have turned and Jaoa was the one playing host. He showed me around his new hometown in Dusseldorf and we stacked clips at every spot along the way. It always amazes me the things this dude can do on two wheels.

BMX GERMANY – FILMING W/ JAOA DANAIKRIT

June 16, 2020

In the words of Ricky Nelson, Jaoa Danaikrit truly is a “Travelin’ Man”. He’s lived in Dusseldorf for more than a year now and is quickly getting to know everybody in the BMX scene in Germany. It’s been great to see him pick up a pair of 20″ wheels. I always knew he had roots in BMX, but I had never seen him ride anything other than a Fixed Gear Freestyle build until we made this. Click HERE to see the video we made in his new hometown. (Premieres June 17th at 8:30am PST) Shout out to Peoples store for helping Jaoa out with a bike. Much love.

WHEEL TALK – PLUS ULTRA

June 11, 2020

Who doesn’t love leftover pizza. The team really came together for this one, like knights of the round table. Actually this is just a bunch of clips from 2019 that didn’t make their way into other videos edits. I knew there were some extra clips floating around and I’m really glad I went back through to see what didn’t make the first cut. Check out nearly 50 screen shots as well as the custom soundtrack to the video below.

MASH SF + KOSUKE MASUDA HAND ENGRAVED STEEL BUILD

June 5, 2020

I hang out around MASH a lot when Im in San Francisco. One of the last times I was in town I had the honor of photographing this one of a kind love boat in front of the shop. The closer I looked the more impressed I became at the sheer level of detail. Every nook and cranny had a hand engraved element. Most of which felt very fluid and natural. With themes of foliage and water peppered throughout the line work, this bike is truly unforgettable.

THIS BIKE IS CURRENTLY FOR SALE. CLICK HERE FOR MORE DETAILS.

Kosuke Masuda – or simply Ko – is Shingon monk who lives in Yokohama Japan with his family. Ko has been exploring engraving on bike and bike parts as an artistic medium. His work is astounding anPd is on full display with this complete bike. It is the only bike of its kind and a magnificent piece of art.” – Insert courtesy of MASH SF

LOS ANGELES – GEORGE FLOYD PROTESTS MAY 30TH 2020

May 31, 2020

Everyone look out for one another. We could all be a little more kind. A little more patient. A little more understanding. The world is watching and it’s up to us to decide how we heal from here. LA is still under lockdown and the National Guard is set to arrive in the next two minutes (Midnight May 31st). What happened in Minneapolis to George Floyd is unforgivable and it’s a tragedy that we need to address. There’s good in all of us and I hope we can all see that in each other. Let’s protect one another, our communities, our families and look out for those who can’t. We’re stronger together.

FIXED GEAR SF – IT’S REGULAR

May 27, 2020

“IT’S REGULAR”. Just another day in the neighborhood. Slam Dunk Ernie & I met up with Jake Lanich & Andy Sparks in Downtown San Francisco to ride bikes and do what we always do. We hope that everyone can get back to doing what they love with the ones they love doing it with again in the near future. But until then, here’s a day video of some of the good times we share together on a regular basis. Check out the songs I made for the video below as well as 40 different screen shots. What do you think? Same time next week?

FGFS CULVER CITY – MARCO MARQUEZ

May 26, 2020

Marco Marquez has been flying under the radar for far too long. It wasn’t until I moved to Los Angeles that I really had a chance to ride with the man and let me tell you. He has one of the most explosive riding styles out of anybody I’ve ever seen ride FGFS. I’m talking double bar spins, 540s, wheelie 3’s. Tricks that are unreasonably difficult to do.

A couple days ago we linked up and rode a couple spots on the outskirts of Culver City. For those who don’t know where that is, it’s basically an imaginary city in the center of Los Angeles where a bunch of Movie studios are located. I think it’s a tax thing. Idk, who can tell. If you know more than me, please reach out and fill me in, I’d love to know more. Anyways. Marco is rad and we’ve been stacking a ton of clips in the last week, so keep your eyes peeled for a video of him tearing up LA. (Culver City to be exact) Haha.
