Taishi Okuma spent a total of 10 days with us in San Francisco during his first trip to the US. Everyday he’d wake up and come to work with us for coffee before dripping out to explore the city on his bike. Every time someone from overseas stays with us I can’t help but feel a little more cultured, and Taishi is now the third Japanese friend we’ve housed this year. It’s incredibly humbling to play tour guide and explore parts of the city you had nearly forgotten all about. These photos were shot on lunch one day as well as during the 2 days we spent filming over the weekend. Keep your eyes peeled for a video from Taishi’s stay coming out in the next couple weeks. Until then check out more photos below.

We’re in the middle of uprooting from out pad here in the Tenderloin as part of our yearly move and are going to set out in search of greener pastures. Who knows what the future holds, but whatever it is, we’re ready for it. Here are a couple photos of Mike T. Schmitt that were taken during the time we were showing Taishi Okuma around our native land of San Francisco.

BIKE CHECK – TAISHI OKUMA

Taishi Okuma flew from Fukuoka to SF not only to ride with us and explore the city but to see first hand why “we out here” has become the rally cry of San Francisco. He has been snoozing out in the bungalow beneath my be while he’s staying with us and has already been here for nearly a week. During that time we’ve stacked a ton of footage, which sounds like something we always say, but trust me, the video from his trip will be coming out sooner than later. Until then check out more photos below as well as a complete list of the parts on his FGFS build.

Dew Sippawit is perhaps one of the greatest Fixed Gear Freestyle riders of all time, and has traveled all over the world because of it. Last year I had the opportunity to fly to Beijing China with him where we rode, filmed and cut loose during our two week stay there. I keep a 35mm camera in my backpack at all times, and am real glad I packed it on this trip because a bunch of these photos are now living on the walls of our house. While we were filming in this narrow alleyway, Dew found an old bike with two flats and decided to take it for a joyride. We were constantly on the move and rarely stayed at a spot for long due to the insanely heavy amount of security, police officers and armed forces. It was crazy to see dudes posted up with assault rifles all over Tiananmen Square. Keep your eyes peeled for more 35mm photos our trip.

Last Saturday the FIXIEBOYZ408 came to The City to hangout and ride for the day. We met up at Wallenberg and warmed up for a bit before exploring the neighborhood to ride some spots we haven’t been to in a while. Jimmy Watcha killed it as always, Daniel Le kicked a bunch of one footed cans throughout the day, and Peter Van Nguyen linked at least one technical line at every spot we went to. It was good to catch some photos of Spencer Siegrist for a change, especially considering the fact he’s there most of the time we’re out filming. After all was said and done, Mike Schmitt walked away with the photo of the day after skidding through a lone pile of sand. Check out more shots below and hit us up if you want to ride this weekend.

Jimmy Watcha has been riding for Pagan Bikes for a while now and just built up this wild iridescent frame with oil slick paint. I saw he posted pictures of it fresh out of the box on his instagram so when we met up to ride on Saturday I took a moment to snap these quick shots of it. Keep your eyes peeled for a full bike check the next few weeks.

WORD IS BOND DEVON LAWSON

August 20, 2015

In between filming for his part in the second issue of Can’t Fool The Youth, Devon Lawson dedicated some time to shoot this quick section for the TURF Bikes full length video entitled “Word Is Bond“. Devon has always been known for his precision barspins, steady pedals, and shear strength behind the bike. If you live under a rock and still haven’t seen the entire video front to back then I suggest you read more below and discover what you’ve been missing.
