We all woke up feeling crispy the day after Jaoa Danaikrit’s Birthday. That being said we decided to keep it mellow and spend the day at the arcade. Ground Kontrol is one of our local watering holes and is an endless source of entertainment. Afterwards we decided to take the long way home and go for a quick jaunt through “Forest Park” to show Devon and Anthony some of the other things the great state of Oregon has to offer. I think we bit off more than we could chew when both Jaoa and I started to bonk halfway along the trail. Never the less, we all made it home in one piece. Just in time to BBQ before the sun went down. It was really amazing to have all the homies in town at the same time, and I already miss having Jaoa around the house. We’ll have to get the band back together more often. Until next time.
“These go to 11”. Backyard Blam is at it again, this time with a benefit concert for Dirty Needle Embroidery. We kicked things off around 6 o’clock and didn’t wrap things up until well after midnight. With more beer than we knew what to do with and musical performances by Amanda Sundvor, Icy Dave, and a Nirvana cover band called “Bliss”, the vibes were strong. Shout out to everybody who came out to kick it and contribute to the good times. Check out all the photos from this night HERE.
Last month I was in San Francisco riding bikes for a couple weeks. I brought with me the usual slough of camera gear as well as the GoPro / Gimbal setup. It’s really fun to ride around and film without worrying about what you’re framing up. It’s basically a point and shoot video camera. Similarly to the trial and errors of shooting film, I was bummed when I realized I didn’t format the card correctly and subsequently corrupted the rest of the footage we shot that day. Oh well, at least this one clip made it out unscaved so we could chop together this little jammer. Enjoy.
With everyone in town for the 2018 Chris King Open House we decided to team up and throw a party at the PDX HUB the night before the main event. We supplied the drinks (well actually PBR did), the people supplied the party and the Chome Van supplied indoor vibes in an outdoor setting. Most excellent, especially when you’re looking for a couch to hang out on. We loaded the van up with some historic bags from over the years and brought along the photo booth which is also most excellent for making memories with friends. Shout out to friends, aaaand shout out to everyone at the HUB for helping make this happen. Scroll to the bottom and check out more photos from throughout the night.
Earlier this year Chrome Industries flew us out to NYC for RHC in Brooklyn. During our time there we managed to set up some time with Ricky Powell (The Lazy Hustler). We weren’t sure for what, but we knew we wanted to make a video. When Ricky asked us what we wanted to shoot, we shrugged our shoulders and asked him to show us around his neighborhood. He very calmly said “okay” and jumped right into it. This is what we captured. Turn on, tune in, drop out and explode as New York’s favorite hustler takes us on a tour of the ol’ neighborhood.
We turned things up to eleven this year for Jaoa Danaikrit’s Birthday. It felt like a reunion, or better yet like we were getting the band back together having most of the original Wheel Talk team assembled for the first time in a long time. Jaoa flew back to Thailand yesterday and my heart already misses him. I’m really glad that we had the chance to celebrate his Birthday before he left and even more glad that Anthony & Devon came to add to the celebration. Until next time my dudes, and happy birthday Jaoa. Another good year.
The place: Portland. The purpose: Jaoa Danaikrit’s Birthday. The plan: To have a plan. For Jaoa’s 32n’d birthday we assembeled the team in Portland for a weekend of good times. Devon Lawson & Anthony Combs came up from the Bay Area and Tadashi Nakamura is already here on Vacation for the next month. We cruised around downtown and caught some clips before going out to celbrate more later that night. I’ve been having a ton of fun shooting hyperlaspses while we film, and am stoked on how this day Jammer came out. Shout out to Devin Tolman for coming out to hang for a bit & Jeff Osborn for the tunes.
Tomorrow is Jaoa’s last day here in the US before heading back to Thailand. I’m really going to miss this guy. He’s been living in our house for the last 4 months and our house isn’t going to be the same without him. Until next time my friend. Another good year.
We’ve been working overtime on the weekends. A couple weeks ago we dropped a video of Jaoa Danaikrit riding FGFS here in Portland and we already have another one in the works. Here are a handful of behind the scenes photos from a couple of the filming missions we’ve already been on. Stay tuned for the full video and more progress photos.
