Today I pulled out some unused photos and interviewed Wheel Talk’s very own, Scott Horton. He was one of the 1st good friends I made through riding fixed, and has been there since the beginning. Here’s a little look at the man behind the bike.
Name : Scott Horton
Age : 20
Hometown : San Jose CA
What got you into riding Fixed? : I started riding fixed gear because it was good cross training for Motocross. The Fixed scene in San Jose is so huge it just kept me wanting to ride more and more. I just couldn’t get enough of it.
Explain to everyone “Ginger Power” : Ginger Power? haha never heard of it. I wish I had some sort of secret super powers.
What do you do when you aren’t riding? : When im not riding my bicycle im on my Dirt bike. I guess I’ve always had a thing for 2 wheels. When was the last time you thought “This is crazy”? : Last time i thought that was yesterday when Matt Montoya got hit by a car then jumped right up, punched the guy’s car, smashed his peg through his side door, and rode off. Shit was wild.
What’s the Fixed scene like in SJ? : The Fixed Freestyle scene in San Jose is nuts, to say the least. There’s at bare minimum 20+ guys out everyday, and there’s always more kids on bikes crawling out of the woodwork. I’m really glad to be a part of the construction of the scene here in my hometown, and stoked that there is such a strong sense of family between everyone.
Any last words? : Shout outs to WheelTalk, Breezy Excursion, Specialized Bikes, Sadio, iMiNUSD, YNOT, Matt Reyes, Ed Wonka, Mike Schmitt, Devon Lawon, Matt Montoya, Jeff Dempler, Alex Blanco, Christian Hamrick and everyone else I didn’t name that continually progresses the sport.
