Last month I started a new segment where I pulled instagram photos that people tag (#wheeltalk) and share a select few on here. It’s a good way to recap each month, and show what’s going on with the freestyle scene in other areas. Mike was the Master of Ceremonies at the qualifier a few days ago, and is going to be on the mic at Ride + Style as well. Valentin Racho released his Wheel Talk + Destroy Edit, Seitaro Iki moved to SF, and I lightweight bonded w/ SFPD. It’s been a good month to say the least. Be on the lookout for more of these.
Anthony Combs took this photo of me on my weathered and aged Specialized PFIX. I’ve been on the same frame for nearly a year now, and have grown so attached to the beaten look that I don’t want to hop on a fresh frame. The custom colorway is an easy differentiator that I feel like I’ve become directly associated with. Who knows maybe I’ll swap out frames in time for Ride & Style, only time will tell.
Destroy Bikes & Wheel Talk welcome Valentin Racho to the Team. Jeff Dempler has been filiming w/ 16 year old Valentin in San Jose for the past few months. He’s been progressing like crazy in front of the camera and is as consistent as the sun. He’ll throw 180 bars blindfolded and will try whatever you tell him without question.

Yesterday the homies Chris Marino & Scott Lyman came through with a couple Sony FS700’s equipped w/ Zeiss lenses to kick it & catch some clips of Anthony Combs, Mike Schmitt, and I. We spent the day filming in the SOMA blasting off fireworks, getting burned, and causing a ruckus. Shooting everything at 120-240 fps, we should have some pretty sweet slow mo shots coming your way.
Here are a bunch of clips I compiled from what we shot during the month of January. Most of it was filmed in San Francisco by Mike Schmitt and I, but there is a pretty heavy San Jose section in the beginning. Real stoked on the progression of the Fixed Freestyle scene in SJ. Each time I go there it looks like there’s a whole new wave of kids coming out to shred. Press play and enjoy.
This Saturday we’re premiering Shredwell2 in San Jose at iMiNUSD. We’re going to have a street session before hand while Ed Wonka is in town. We plan to meet up at CCP around 3pm and then roll around from spot to spot before we head to IMD for the screening around 7pm. Bring your bike, your buds, and we’ll see you there.
Here’s some leftover munchies from 2012 for your eyes to feast on. I cut together a stack of riding clips that didn’t quite make the first cut. Most of this footage was shot during the time we spent filming for SHREDWELL2. I have a bunch of shit lined up and waiting to drop, so be on the look out for more coming out this month.
