I keep a camera on me just about everywhere I go, and ever since I got my hands on a Hasselblad it’s quickly become my everyday carry. So when it came time to fly to Arizona for the Prickly Pear Jam I knew I’d be bringing two things. My FGFS bike and this camera. I’ve traveled to a lot of places and for the most part when it’s hot, it’s humid. But AZ was a dry heat that I don’t think any of us were prepared for. It was by and far one of the most blisteringly hot places I’ve ever been and sent everybody home with either a tan or a sunburn by the end of the jam. 9 hours of riding beneath the desert sun will do that to you. Shout out to Mike T. Schmitt for hosting the event and getting the band back together again.
“Turn your bike sideways and do whatever the hell you want” were the only words I said when shooting these photos. I wish I could have captured a profile photo of everyone who came out the the Prickly Pear Jam in Arizona, but I only walked away with portraits of these 8 during the 3 days we were there. Scroll through and take a look at some all too familiar faces. After that, this concludes my photo coverage of both the jam and my brief stay to the land of the sun, or better put “A sunny place for shady people”. Who knows where the next jam will lead us.
Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened. Those words couldn’t be more true as the 2016 Prickly Pear Jam in Arizona comes to a close. Huge shout out to everyone who showed up and an ever louder applause to Mike Schmitt for bringing everyone together. I’m looking forward to seeing where the next jam like this is going to take place. Until then, enjoy scrolling through these 50 of the images I took during the day of the event, and keep your eyes peeled for a video of the Jam coming soon.
Jaoa Danaikrit just released the video from the Black Sunday & Wheel Talk trip to Thailand last year. Featuring riding from the likes of Devon Lawson, Anthony Combs, Jaoa Danaikrit & Steven Jensen. This star studded cast takes on Thailand as they both ride the streets and explore the jungles. Jaoa did an amazing job cutting this together and slayed it with all of the incredible time lapse footage. For a while we weren’t sure if Devon was ever going to come back home because he enjoyed life out there so much. Anthony is by far one of the most entertaining dudes I’ve ever known and has some of the best dance moves out of everyone on the team. Steven Jensen came through packing heat and pulled one of the gnarliest grind combos I’ve ever seen towards the end. Kick back, press play and enjoy the show.
With another solid year behind us, we figured we clean out our closet and release SHREDWELL2 to the public. Filmed over the course of 2011-2012 this 38 minute long, full length motion picture features riders from the Grime Team as well as other influential members of the FGFS community. Stop what you’re doing, press play and enjoy. Happy new year from TURF & Wheel Talk.
Jaoa Danaikrit just posted some screen shots from the Wheel Talk in Thailand video he’s gearing up to release. I remember him spending countless hours working on this video in our kitchen while he was staying here in the states. Keep your eyes peeled for this one because there’s never been a FGFS video with this level of production value. Check out more screen shots of Devon Lawson, Anthony Combs, & Steven Jensen below, or on his Flickr HERE.
With more than 30 riders from all over the world competing in the freestyle event, things were bound to get wild as everybody geared up for the 2014 Red Bull Ride & Style. Each year they mix up the course and this year they really out did themselves creating one of the best flowing layouts to date. Everyone brought their A-game that day as they stepped up to the plate to empty out their bag of tricks. Elliott Milner brought was linking together lines on the park like he’s ridden it his whole life. Jakob Santos hucked something huge off just about every object there. Joe Mckeag showed everyone what it looks like to ride transition, and Johnathan Ball wasn’t letting anything go untouched. There’s too much that went down for me to even begin to discuss, so I’m just going to have to let the video speak for itself. Read more below to see the final results. Thanks to Dave Beard for shooting the photos for the thumbnail.
