RIP Ricky, we miss you already. In the Spring of 2018 we met up with our old friend Ricky Powell in Greenwich Village and went on a walk and talk with him around the neighborhood. It was amazing to see the countless interactions he had with people, all of which made it abundantly clear that this was his home.
Born and raised in the Village, Ricky cut his teeth shooting photos of The Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Andy Warhol, Basquiat, and Keith Haring. Keeping a camera on him and being an opportunist, Ricky has shot some of the most iconic photos of some of the most iconic people of our time. We were honored to document some of the moments we shared together. Rest easy.
Earlier this year Chrome Industries flew us out to NYC for RHC in Brooklyn. During our time there we managed to set up some time with Ricky Powell (The Lazy Hustler). We weren’t sure for what, but we knew we wanted to make a video. When Ricky asked us what we wanted to shoot, we shrugged our shoulders and asked him to show us around his neighborhood. He very calmly said “okay” and jumped right into it. This is what we captured. Turn on, tune in, drop out and explode as New York’s favorite hustler takes us on a tour of the ol’ neighborhood.
