As we gear up for the new year, we figured we’d spread a little holiday cheer and release the latest Wheel Talk production we’ve been working on. Devon Lawson & I (Matt Reyes) have been in cahoots with the dudes from Premier Fits for a while now and are just now unveiling our welcome to the team video. Major thanks to PF for lacing us up some sweet headwear and shout out to Anthony Combs for coming through with a quick cameo on the opening clip. Consider this an early Christmas present from us to you, press play and enjoy. Read more below to check out some screen shots and watch the video on youtube.
Last weekend I needed to pick up a new memory card, so Devon Lawson & I headed over to our neighborhood Target to scoop one up. Moments after picking up the new card I shot these photos of him hopping through some strange architecture they had out front of the building. We’ve been riding for Premier Fits for a minute now and this western style strap back of theirs is too fresh. Check out more of the headwear they have available at their online store. Last Sunday was like most Sundays. Dave Beard came by, we picked up some pizza and cruised around Alameda in search of spots. Dave has a knack for shooting behind the scenes photos while we’re out filming. Consider this the first installment of a new series we’re starting; Sundaze with the Turf Mob. Here’s a couple photos that Devon Lawson took of me while we were hanging out in The Mission a while back. If there’s one thing The Mission is good for, it’s quality Mexican food and toys that only cost you a quarter. Check out one of my favorite Premier Fits hats from their tropical series. They’re always coming out with some of the sickest headwear and always encorporate wild fabrics / materials.
San Francisco is so densely packed with street spots that often times we wander aimlessly in search of new shit to shred. Seitaro Iki took this photo of Devon Lawson hitting an ice pick on this wall rail we found in our neighborhood. I’m usually not that into vertical compositions, but lately I feel like I enjoy them more and more. It could be that I spend so much time working with video that I’m not used to so many vertical pixels. Now I know what you’re thinking, and you’re correct. The “Big D” is Devon’s pro model hat from Premier Fits. Check out some more of Seitaro’s photography around the city HERE.
Big thanks to everyone who helped me film this, there’s too many names to list, but you know who you are. If you both ride and film then I’m sure you know how hard it is to catch clips when you’re behind the lens all the time. Filmed during the course of 2013 in both San Francisco and New York. After riding on both ends of the US I’ve come to the conclusion that the West Coast needs more cellar doors. They were by far my favorite bit of riding street in NY. To add to that last thought, NY needs more hills because that’s where some of the best spots hide. It’s already been a good year for Fixed Freestyle, and I have a feeling it’s only going to get better.
