FIXED GEAR SF – HOW TO RIDE YOUR BIKE IN THE RAIN

May 22, 2020

Heavy rains brought flash floods in San Francisco, but that didn’t stop us from going out and riding bikes. This is more of a demonstration than it is a how to but there really isn’t much to riding in the rain. Get yourself some fenders, in our case these “Musguards” and bring a change of clothes if you’re going somewhere. That’s it. After rolling around until our clothes weighed an extra 9lbs, we eventually made our way to MASH SF where Mike Martin gave us both shelter and fresh socks. Shout outs to MASH for always taking care of us. I love a good rainy day in SF. “It’s Just Water” – SMACKTRACKZ

FIXED GEAR / BIKE LIFE – HIGH TIDE IN SAN FRANCISCO

April 21, 2020

Happy holidays everyone. It’s high tide here in San Francisco and we decided to meet up at the Clocktower. As usual. We kept it close and rode wheelies / did fixed gear tricks along Embarcadero before ending up at one of my favorite warehouse spots along the pier. Santos said “JUMP YOUR BIKE” and he’s doing his best to lead by example. What a fine role model. Later that night, Jake 100 + the London fam rolled up to The City. Stay tuned for more bike videos in the Bay Area. RIDERS: Jakob Santos // Andy Sparks // Matt Reyes // Josh Boothby // Matt Bastard // Josh Silva // Designer Lamar

FIXED GEAR SF – LATE NIGHT W/ YOUNG TOOL

April 3, 2020

Young Tool is a hometown hero in the Bay Area. If you know of Tool then I’m sure you’ve seen him work the bars and wild out at any given ride out or hang out spot. Jake Lanich, Patrick Curley AKA “Patrick Fixie King” & I met up with him in downtown San Francisco. The streets were wet, the air was warm, and there was hardly a car on the road in the Financial district. We took full advantage of both that and all of the glowing lights from the new bus terminal and convention center. Looking forward to this whole lockdown business to be over with so we can all attempt to get back to life as we used to know it. Times change, but the will to ride lives on.

BIKE LIFE OAKLAND – TOWN PARK

April 2, 2020

First stop, Town Park. Jake 100, CBreezy, JN, Issa & Grady met up with me at the Civic Center Bart Station in San Francisco where we to took the train to Oakland. After a few quick stops we hopped off the Bart and rode to Town Park to meet up with the rest of the crew for the day. Santos laid it down as usual, Andy Sparks gave us some of that signature flare, Gus Molina caught a quick clip and the London Boys supplied the rest of the action.

Shout out to the homie JEF for the banging soundtrack in this one, check out more of his music on sound cloud if you haven’t already as well as the new band he started “9th Heaven”.

FIXED GEAR PORTLAND – “SUFFERING”

March 28, 2020

Tyler Johnson came to Portland to ride with us the month before I moved to LA and brought with him a trick or two I’ve never seen in person before “The Deathtruck”. Locals Devin Tolman & Ramon Antonio held it down for their hometown and brought us to a spot or two we’ve never been to. If you’re ever in town holler a Devin, he knows all the best photo spots. Shout out to the homie Bryce from Belonging for providing the amazing soundtrack to this video. I highly recommend you check out more of their work, especially if you’re in the PNW and are into live music. Anyways, we’ll have to make a trip up North sometime soon to visit everyone. What do you think? Next stop Seattle?

FIXED GEAR PORTLAND – TYLER JOHNSON CAME TO TOWN

March 25, 2020

Tyler Johnson is one of the Fixie Founding Fathers and pioneered a lot of tricks that were never before done on a fixed gear drive train. If you know, you know, and if you don’t, get to know your FGFS history. There’s been a bunch of great re-uploads on “Fixed Gear Archive” I highly recommend you browse through it when you have some time.

Anyways, here are a bunch of photos I took during the filming of the latest Wheel Talk video entitled “Suffering”. I miss how perfectly gloomy Portland was all the time. It made for some nice overcast light on the days that things were dry. This was a fun day, and I’m glad TJ came to town to collaborate and capture these moments together. Until next time everyone.

2020 VISION – FT. MIKE SCHMITT & MATT REYES

January 30, 2020

It’s the beginning of the year and Mike Schmitt & I are back at it again. This time we took things to the southern part of San Francisco where we made a lap around what used to be Candlestick Stadium. On our way back into town I stopped to get a clip on this little loading dock ramp and ran over an oversized staple. We looked up the nearest bike shop which was miles down the road because there aren’t many businesses in that part of Hunter’s Point. After a quick tube change we were back up and moving. We grabbed a couple road sodas and headed in search of a place to enjoy them. Mike filmed this fish n chips to forward wheelie combo I’ve been working on. Still gotta come up with a name for it, I’ll let you know when we do, but until then press play and enjoy. MASH STEEL FRAME.

WHEEL TALK – DEAD MALLS

January 16, 2020

Footage from my trip to San Francisco in May. All the usual Suspects came out the woodwork to hangout and ride. Jake Lanich rides a minute long wheelie, Devon Lawson rides his new MASH build for the first time, & I bought a piñata for the MASH Cino de Mayo swap meet. Malls are a thing of the past, but the good vibes live on. Until next time.
