With more than 30 riders from all over the world competing in the freestyle event, things were bound to get wild as everybody geared up for the 2014 Red Bull Ride & Style. Each year they mix up the course and this year they really out did themselves creating one of the best flowing layouts to date. Everyone brought their A-game that day as they stepped up to the plate to empty out their bag of tricks. Elliott Milner brought was linking together lines on the park like he’s ridden it his whole life. Jakob Santos hucked something huge off just about every object there. Joe Mckeag showed everyone what it looks like to ride transition, and Johnathan Ball wasn’t letting anything go untouched. There’s too much that went down for me to even begin to discuss, so I’m just going to have to let the video speak for itself. Read more below to see the final results. Thanks to Dave Beard for shooting the photos for the thumbnail.

Red Bull recently released a quick recap of the 2014 Ride & Style that went down last weekend in San Francisco. I rode in the race as well as the freestyle event again this year and somehow managed to find a spot on both podiums. Head over to their site and read up on it HERE, they did a far better job explaining it then I ever could. Aside from that it was an all out blast going up against Addison Zawada in an aspect of riding that I rarely ever indulge in. Photo Credit : Garth Milan

Last Sunday Mike Schmitt & I cruised around our humble island abode here in Alameda and brought along with us the trusty 35mm Camera. We lurked around the abandoned military base & rode along the incredibly windy coastline in search of spots in less than likely locations. I came across an old truck bench that we pulled out of the trash and sessioned for a bit. After catching a couple quick photos we ventured into the tall grass along the coast and circled back into the old Naval Base where Mike rolled this barred fence that was propped up against another. I was the most stoked to find this teeter totter that we had previously thought was gone for good after its recent disappearance. Check out more photos below, and stay tuned for the next episode of TURF Sundaze.

Given the fact that we shoot most of our stills on 35mm film, the TURF Sundaze posts are always about a week behind. Last Sunday we roamed around Oakland with Egg The Dog, a regular addition to The Mob. He’s either strapped to Mike’s back or running along side us as we lurked from spot to spot. Check out more photos below.

We’ve been gearing up for the release of Word Is Bond for quite some time now and have never generated this type of hype for a free online video before. Usually the only videos that have premiere’s are DVD’s, but considering the amount of time we spent making this monumental video, we decided to make an exception. Here’s some screen shots from my section to tide you over until the official release on 04.20.2014. Check out more screen grabs below.

Here’s a bunch of 35mm shots that we took last weekend for the third installment of the TURF Sundaze Series. There’s few things more rewarding than shooting action shots on film. It’s a fingers crossed kind of business where knowledge of your craft makes all the difference. For this week’s installment Mike Schmitt & I showed up at Ed’s house unannounced. Part of which made me feel like a kid again, back when showing up to a friend’s house to see if they can come out and play was mandatory. After a some morning breakfast at Ed’s we headed into Oakland in search of new shit to shred. We caught a couple flicks and then headed back into Alameda where we explored some abandoned buildings on the base. Check out more photos from last Sunday below. Photo Credit : The Turf Mob

This is it folks, the moment you’ve all been waiting for. Here’s the official dates for the Turf Bikes “Word Is Bond” Video Premieres. We’ll be having 2 events before the internet release on April 20th. The San Francisco Premiere will be at Lower Branch in the Tenderloin. Admission will be 2 dollars and we’ll be having a photo exhibition as well. Dave Beard, Ed Wonka & I collaborated to compile some of the better photos we’ve shot this year. On April 12th we’re having another ride / premiere in San Jose. We’re meeting up in Down Town SJ around 4 and riding spots until we head over to iMiNUSD. Doors open at 7:30 and the video starts at 8PM. Read more below for links to maps of each location, and the last couple ads of each member of the Turf Mob.
I saw this photo on Froots of our good friend Seitaro Iki at the Devour Films Exhibition that’s going on all this week. It’s rare to see prints of digital photos which is why I was stoked when I saw Say standing next to a photograph he took of Devon Lawson & I (Matt Reyes) while he lived in SF. Check out more HERE
