The boys are back in town. Every Saturday we’ve been meeting up to shred in San Francisco and this week was no exception. Immediately after DASH 4 THE CASH was finished we linked up and rode the Financial District. Which has been completely gutted and is incredibly desolate with everything going on in the world. SF is a ghost town and we’re taking full advantage of that. Stay tuned and keep your eyes peeled for the video from this day dropping tomorrow morning. Oakland California – January 3rd 2020. I took the subway from San Francisco to Oakland with Jake 100, Isa, CBreezy, JN & Grady to ride bikes in the East Bay. Jakob Santos, Andy Sparks and a bunch of the usual suspects met up with us for a day wheelies around Downtown. We pulled over at some of our favorite spots around Lake Merritt before ending up at Jack London Square for the Sunset. I won’t waste too much time with words on this one, so stop listening to me immediately and press play already. Oh yeah, I quickly whipped up the soundtrack for this one too.
Building up your bike is almost as fun as riding it. The rad part about fixed gear is how different everyone’s bike is. Each build is a passion project assembled piece by piece. The best part about fixed gear is that it doesn’t take much to put one together. Master Bike Co & RUFF Bike Co are both rider owned / operated brands that still produce FGFS parts. So if you’re looking to build up a bike or need something new, that’s your best place to start.
My bars are clearly shifted back, Marco’s wheels are more square than circle, JBall’s bike is solid as a rock, Oscars bike has throwback vibes and Deacon’s freshly painted MASTER frame had a sparkle attribute that won over the hearts of the judges. The judge being me, personal opinion of course, but Deacon had the illest whip.

There aren’t a lot of riders out there running brakes on their FGFS build, but Gus Molina is one of them. It’s the addition of this variable that gives his style and trick selection such a unique flavor. He’s always stretching the imagination and perception of what’s possible on these bikes. Gus is one of those riders that you have to keep your eye on and start filming before he says anything. He’s always pulling the most ridiculous combos the moment we roll up to a new spot. Watcha Flaka Flame. Jimmy Watcha is one of those dudes that is years beyond everybody in his ability to ride FGFS. If this was a game of chess, he’d be 9 steps ahead. Which is probably why MASTER BIKE CO decided to give him a signature colorway of their Hightek frame with graphics designed by FGFS’ very own Gus Molina. Ramon Antonio recently built up this pretty pink Master Bike Co frameset and I must say it sure does photograph beautifully. Not only is it photogenic, but it rides like a dream. The rear end is so short it makes pulling up to hop snappy and effortless. Don’t just take my word for it, take a look at some of these shots of Ramon taking it out for a spin.
The sun doesn’t come out much here in Portland, but when it does we try to make the most of it. Except for today. Today it was amazing outside and I hardly left the house. But that’s neither here nor there. Fingers crossed for more sunny days to come. I’ll have to do a bike check of his new build real soon, until then check out more photos from our day out below.
“Turn your bike sideways and do whatever the hell you want” were the only words I said when shooting these photos. I wish I could have captured a profile photo of everyone who came out the the Prickly Pear Jam in Arizona, but I only walked away with portraits of these 8 during the 3 days we were there. After that, this concludes my photo coverage of both the jam and my brief stay to the land of the sun, or better put “A sunny place for shady people”. Who knows where the next jam will lead us.
