FIXED GEAR – 420 ALLEY CAT IN SAN FRANCISCO

May 30, 2018

It’s four-twenty in San Francisco, and you know what that means. Bikes & buds. We got the gang together and rode around earlier in the day before heading to Union Square for the start of the 3rd Annual 420 Alley Cat. With Mission Crit right around the corner, the turn out for unsanctioned good time was insane. I only rode to half the race before throwing in the towel and taking a load off at the final checkpoint. Joints were being thrown, beers were being slammed and friendly rivalries met their match as people began to trickle into the after party. Shout out to everyone who helped throw this eventful weekend, and to Crihs Thormann for making it even more memorable.

I had a ton of fun piecing this one together, and am stoked to spend more time shooting with this GoPro we just added to our camera arsenal. Keep your eyes peeled for more fun follow footage in the near future.

FIXED GEAR PORTLAND – IN SEARCH OF STOKE

May 20, 2018

Yesterday, SLAM DUNK ERNIE & I linked up with some of the boys (Christian, Gavin, Avery & Hayato) in downtown Portland and rode to the Eastside in search of stoke and a place to park it. We ended up riding through the industrial area and underneath the bridge before making our way to Laurelhurst Park to ride the dirt step up. These are some of the first few images I’ve shot and edited from the Sony A7III I just picked up. I’m really hyped to have a new digital camera to play with after shooting on the same setup for the last 8 years. Scroll down and check out more photos below.

FIXED GEAR PORTLAND – THIS IS A SIGN

March 25, 2018

Yesterday cities and communities nationwide banned together in search for a solution to the growing gun problem. On our way downtown to meet up with the boys, @slamdunkernie and I stopped by the “March For Life” rally to see what was going on and support the cause. I usually carry cardboard in my bag, so Ernie decided to make a sign real quick. It’s deep. After that we met up with Christian, Ryan, Gavin & Erik at Chrome PDX and went for a little jaunt up the west hills dodging raindrops every step of the way. We circled up for lunch then found ourselves at my house watching old FGFS video. Everything from “The Revival” to “Revoked” to the full length Wheel Talk film that we never release. I know, it’s been a long time coming and is far overdue at this point. You know what they say, better late than never. We’ll set a deadline and release it later this spring. As always, keep your eyes peeled.

MASHSF – STEEL SS FRAMESET “SILVER SMOKE”

March 22, 2018

If you build it they will come. MASHSF has been cooking up fresh new frames of their own for quite some time now and the day has finally come for our first look at what they’ve been building. I hadn’t seen too much leading up to the release and was as stoked as anyone else to see what they whipped up. Here are some of the first photos I took of my new MASH Steel SS Frameset. I’m really feeling the Silver Smoke colorway Mike kicked over. It has this really rustic and worn look while still holding onto this brilliant shine. It’s truly a work of art and looks even better in person. If you’re in San Francisco anytime soon I suggest you swing by the shop and check it out. More photos to come, until then check out more on MASH.

FIXED GEAR PORTLAND – SUPER BOWL SUNDAY 2018

March 14, 2018

It’s Super Bowl Sunday here in Portland and this is the 4th year in a row that we’ve assembled the community to ride bikes and cause a ruckus instead of watching the big game. Bikes > Football. It’s a special time of year and we always use it as a good excuse to get out and film a day video. I always bring a football (which we lost in the river), some jerseys and whatever other sports props I can find. It’s never much, but it’s always enough to make things a little more interesting.

With more than 20 of Portland’s finest + Jacob Ruff who came down from Seattle to ride, we kicked things off right and kept the good times going. There’s a strong contingency of riders lurking around PDX. More and more keep coming out of the woodwork and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Keep your eyes peeled for more coming out of the Pacific Northwest, and if you live in Portland lets ride sometime. Press play, check out a bunch of screenshots below.

FIXED GEAR PORTLAND – DEVIN TOLMAN MOSSY SKID

February 19, 2018

A glimpse of what’s to come. Here’s a little sneak peek of Devin Tolman wiping the slate clean during the filming of our latest Super Bowl Sunday video here in Portland. There’s so much moss growing all over the place, that I’m glad we were able to put a patch of it to good use. Keep your eyes peeled for the full video dropping later next week.

MASH SF – 10 YEAR PARALLAX IN SAN FRANCISCO

October 5, 2017

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. If steel is real, then I don’t know what to call this. The fact that this frame is still standing surprises me. I’ve been riding this MASH Parallax frame for more than 2 years now and it has taken every bit of abuse I’ve thrown at it. The photo above is a shot that I’ve been wanting to get for a while. I’d be willing to go as far as to say I’ve had daydreams about it. I spent probably 20 minutes laying on the street shooting up before James Grady & Jake Ricker rolled up. Plenty of people walked passed looking down wondering why in the hell I was laying in the gutter. Completely worth it.

One final thought. People always ask me what’s up with the tennis ball. To be honest, I just found one on the street one day. The Chrome Industries HQ used to be around the corner from the Bay Tennis Club. Leaving the gutters lined with neon green gems all the time. But for the most part I just tell them it’s my spedometer.
