I met up with Christian Ustarroz on Valentines Day and was surprised to learn that he plays a huge part in Anthem Bike Co. It’s rad to see riders taking action and starting companies of their own, especially considering FGFS is almost entirely rider owned & operated at this point. It sounds like Anthem has a lot in the making right now and I’m excited to see what they roll out with this year. Keep your fingers to the pulse and keep your eyes peeled for clips of Christian peppered into the upcoming Wheel Talk video.

Instead of spending Valentines Day with the lady, I spent the afternoon riding around SF with Christian Ustarroz this year. I couldn’t believe some of the combos he was putting together and was completely blown away by at how solid his riding is. Keep your eyes peeled for the clips we filmed in the upcoming Wheel Talk full length coming out later this year. Until then check out more photos below.
Huge thanks to everyone who came out to shred and film for this year’s Super Bowl Sunday video. I’ve only begun to cut the footage, but lets just say it’s ends with a splash. Here are some photos to tide you over until I finish putting the video together.
Shout out to Arjuna Rogers for kicking over a few of the photos he shot during the Super Bowl Sunday ride we had yesterday. Everyone pulled together, and by the end of it we were cruising around with more than 20 people. Stay tuned for more photos and a video from the day.
It’s amazing how many of the tricks in Jimmy Watcha’s Word Is Bond section were done first try. He even came through and submitted a bunch of clips he filmed with the FIXIEBOYZ408. He might be a man of few words but I’m pretty damn sure his riding speaks for itself. Press play and see for yourself.
In August of 2010 I came up on this Affinity Lo Pro during a trick comp at the Hellyer Velodrome in San Jose. It’s been nearly 6 years since then and this bike has quickly become one of the most trusted builds I’ve ever owned. A couple weeks ago, I wheeled it into the studio and snapped off a couple quick stills of it for legacy purposes. People always ask what kind of bars I run, but I honestly couldn’t say because I’ve found them all sitting on the street somewhere along the 8 years I’ve lived in San Francisco. It would be rad to turn this into a series of different builds from the people I ride with on a regular basis. Keep your eyes peeled for that, until then check out more below.

Commander in Chief at TURF Bikes, Mike Schmitt brought the heat in his Word Is Bond section and came through with some of the heaviest grind combos in the video. Mike has always been a huge part of the filming process and is the Starsky to my Hutch, Rocky to my Bullwinkle, or the Lilo to my Stitch if you will. It’s been tough getting by without him, but I’m on the road to recovery and am on the hunt for a new filming counterpart. I’m constantly blown away by the tricks he’s able to put together and the spots he manages to find. Which is why this is easily one of my favorite parts in the full length. Press that button and enjoy.
