Things have been heating up here in Portland, and it seems like the entire city is waking up from hibernation. Ramon Antonio, SLAM DUNK ERNIE & I hit the town and shot some clips on this GoPro I just picked up. This is the first cut I’ve made with it and am looking forward to having a new camera to play with. This is the first time I’ve ever done a foot jam tailwhip on a fixed gear. Not to say that I had this trick down on other bikes, I just remember trying this trick as a kid and never being able to stick it.
With everyone in town for Mission Crit and it being the day after 420, we decided to get the gang together and have a chill session in The Sunset. We warmed up at the skatepark on 42nd Ave (Watch that video HERE) then packed up the van and headed to SF State for the rest of the afternoon. Jimmy ripped his shirt off his body, Deacon live streamed everything on snapchat and we hung out with a scooter kid for once. Chrome Industries just dropped this video I shot of Johnathan Ball when we were in LA recently. What was only supposed to be a photoshoot turned into JBall & I stacking clips on the side for fun. We then later took that footage and turned it into this promo video for the newly designed Dima 2.0. It’s tight that these shoes are made with the rider in mind and have a built in Propulsion Shank (Learn More) to better distribute the impact from landing and keep your foot from painfully flexing over the pedal. I used to wear Chrome shoes religiously solely because of this feature. Check out more of their bike shoes HERE.
8 years in the making. It’s hard to believe it’s almost been a decade since we filmed this video with Joe Mesiano & Chris Marino at the Wheel Talk Compound. None of this footage was ever released, but we’re really glad to get it out there now. Better late than never I suppose. There’s something incredibly refreshing about seeing actual film burns that weren’t layered in during the editing process. We’ll let you see for yourself, press play & enjoy.
Quick little jammer from my second day on the new MASHSF Steel Frame. I’ve been riding the frame for about a week now and I can already feel this new found sense of confidence being back on a steel build. The homies Ramon & Devin shot these clips of me breaking in the new bike on our way back to the office after a long and exciting day of work. I shot two other videos for Chrome Industries that day and am super excited to see them come out later next month. Keep your eyes peeled, check out some screenshots below and enjoy this video. It’s Super Bowl Sunday here in Portland and this is the 4th year in a row that we’ve assembled the community to ride bikes and cause a ruckus instead of watching the big game. Bikes > Football. It’s a special time of year and we always use it as a good excuse to get out and film a day video. I always bring a football (which we lost in the river), some jerseys and whatever other sports props I can find. It’s never much, but it’s always enough to make things a little more interesting.
With more than 20 of Portland’s finest + Jacob Ruff who came down from Seattle to ride, we kicked things off right and kept the good times going. There’s a strong contingency of riders lurking around PDX. More and more keep coming out of the woodwork and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Fixed Gear Freestyle has done a lot for me over the years and it still continues to give. Good times, chill vibes and an endless reason to explore new places. This video was filmed in the first few months of 2017 back when I still lived in San Francisco. Shout out to the homies Mike, Jaoa & Ramon for going out and filming. Shooting these things is always a team sport.

We shot this video back in 2011 when Ed “Wonka” LaForte first moved to the West Coast. San Jose was the Meca for FGFS for a hot minute and had a gravitational pull that brought in riders from all over the country. Ed Wonka was one of those riders. Not only did he crush it on two wheels, but he played a big role in bringing the FGFS community together in the Bay Area.
