It’s a wrap folks. After a couple weeks in the editing booth this is the official coverage of the first Harness The Gnarness Jam in Oakland. Big thanks to everyone who came out to ride, film, kick it and make this event such a good time. It couldn’t have been done without you. We plan to make it a series of Jams hosted by different riders in the city of their choice. So keep your ear to the ground because this may be the first, but it certainly won’t be the last. Check out some screen shots below.
Here’s some of the few photos I took during the Harness The Gnarness Jam that happened in Oakland a couple weeks ago. I focused on shooting video over photos and was lucky enough to have dudes like Kris Fay (Lockedcog), Mike Schmitt (TURF), Alex Gonzalez, and Ramon Antonio III around to shoot alternate angles throughout the day. Instead of each putting out our own video of the jam, we decided to combine clips and make a collaborative recap of the event. Here’s a little teaser Kris made to help give you an idea of what I’m talking about. Stay tuned because later tonight We’ll be releasing the official coverage of the first ever Harness The Gnarness.

I took these photos of Devon Lawson riding his FGFS build a while ago and figured I’d post a bike check for those curious as to what he’s on. If there’s one thing I miss about living in the East Bay its the endless amount of open space and industrial places we used to ride. I’m stoked that Dave & Gus moved to Alameda. It gives us more of a reason to ride some of these run down and abandoned spots. Check out more photos and read through the parts list below.

If you don’t know, or haven’t heard, Harness The Gnarness 2014 Hosted by Ed “Wonka” Laforte is this Sunday in Oakland (11.16.14). We’re meeting up at Madison Park (Lake Merritt Bart) and are riding spot to spot giving out prizes at every stop along the way. If you live local be sure to mark your calendar and cancel any hot date you may have, because this is one event you won’t want to miss.

I’m pretty sure I shot more photos on 35mm film than I did on my digital camera this year and have a box full of prints to show for it. If you ever come by the house, ask me about it and I’ll show you. Until then check out some of these shots of Mike Schmitt on our morning commutes, lunch breaks from work and weekend sessions around the city. I’m really stoked on how a couple of these double exposures turned out and am finally starting to figure out the formula. Check out more 35mm photos HERE.

Ed Wonka Laforte Presents “Harness The Gnarness” a FGFS Jam hosted in Down Town Oakland this weekend. 11.16.14 There’s going to be a $5 entry fee to make things a little more interesting for those who want to compete as well as prizes to be given out along the way to all those who ride. We’ll meeting up at Madison Park “Dragon Park” which is located between 8th & 9th next to the Lake Meritt Bart Station at noon. From there we’ll be riding spot to spot until the sun sets. After burning through a couple rolls of film trying to figure out how to shoot double exposures, I managed to get a few shots that I think turned out half way decent. I’m not sure if Devon Lawson has ever taken a bad picture, but these could be the best shots I’ve ever taken of him. Now that we’re all moved into our new spot in SF, I want to start bringing my Olympus OM1 out with us when we ride more often. Read more below or check out more 35mm Photos HERE.
Double Exposures were something that I experimented with quite a bit when I first started shooting 35mm film, and have since then fallen out of touch with this drunken sense of double vision. Here’s some of the first few double exposures I took, featuring Fixed Gear Freestyle’s very own Ed “Wonnka” Laforte. Although it may sometimes be difficult to see, I enjoy the added interest stacking shots gives to the photograph. Case and point being the image on top that shows both a closeup and wide shot of the same grind. Read more below or check out other 35mm photos HERE.
