TCB RACE – PARKS & WRECK

July 24, 2016

Beers don’t normally grow on trees, but they might as well have during yesterday’s TCB cross race. The flyer said something about bringing a backpack and a handful of sanitizer, which left us with more than a handful of questions. It was a race around a track that was littered with bicycle debris, trash, feathers and warm beers that were hidden throughout the course. Each lap counted as a point as well as each piece of trash collected along the way. At the end of the 30 minute race the points were tallied and the park looked cleaner than ever. Shout out to RJ Rabe & Ramon for hosting this one and keep an ear to the ground for next month’s.

BIKE CHECK EDWARD ORELLANA

June 6, 2016

I’ve become real good friends with Edward Orellana over the last year and a half and always look forward to seeing him in the morning. He works at the Chrome Coffee shop in the SOMA and is easily the nicest dude in the neighborhood. He’s always cracking jokes, laughing, and I’m pretty certain he knows everybody who comes in on a first name basis. Recently I had a chance to wheel his Reminton track build into the studio and shoot some photos of it. There’s nothing quite like a NJS Track frame.

MASH SF – SAN MARCO SADDLE

June 6, 2016

It hasn’t even been a week and I can already tell this is the nicest seat I’ve ever owned. The homies over at MASH SF recently set me up with one of the new San Marco Alpine Wide Saddles and the ergonomic shape is already doing wonders for my bum. I’ve ridden some pretty terrible saddles with a ton of cushion and I can honestly say that shape is everything. Don’t bother getting a gel pad for your tushy, just invest in a seat with a decent cut. It makes all the difference. Head over to MASH SF and check out the other San Marco Ragale saddle they just released.

JongWon Lee is the ENDFGFS photographer in Korea, and will be living in San Francisco for the next couple months while he goes to language school. He’s only been here for a couple of weeks and it’s already been great having another homie to ride with. Scroll through to check out a handful of photos from our last two weekends rolling around town.

I met Patrick Curley in Sacramento after NAHBS earlier this year and have been hanging out with him more and more now that he lives in San Francisco. He’s a part of the Sacaframa crew, which has created quite a name for themselves in the track scene over the last year. They’ve lit a fire under my ass and have played a huge part in getting me stoked on track bikes again. Check out more photos of Patrick with his MASH Cinelli Bolt below and be on the look out for more coming soon.

PRICKLY PEAR JAM VIDEO

May 30, 2016

This morning Mike Schmitt released the official recap of the Prickly Pear Jam that happened in Arizona a couple weeks ago. This 10 minute video is packed full of good times, vicious heat, and collective mix of familiar faces. My favorite part of the video and possibly the funniest part of the day was when Mike pulled a 180 crook in flip flops for a quick 20 bucks. At which point everyone came together and scrounged up enough to pay the debt. Shout out to Zane Meyer for all the arial coverage, and to Kai Yao for shooting secondary angles. Press play to see first hand why this was one of the best FGFS events that has happened in a really long time.

TARCK – MATT & MIKE IN SF

May 23, 2016

I’m trying to figure out where to even begin with this one and I think it makes the most sense to explain what the term “Tarck” means. If you’ve been riding fixed gear for more than 5 or 6 years, you probably already know, but simply put it’s tricks on track bikes. It can be both something you do and used as a term to describe a type of bike. It’s what Fixed Gear Freestyle started out as and has been making a silent resurgence as of lately. Mike Schmitt & I met up in downtown San Francisco one gloomy afternoon and had a ton of fun filming for this one. He stripped out the threads on his rear wheel trying to foot plant 180 off the fire hydrant, but we didn’t let that stop us from having a good time. Be on the look out for more track bike videos like this peppered into the usual FGFS coverage.
