FIXED GEAR LOS ANGELES – RIDING DOWNTOWN W/ AP

April 13, 2019

AP reached out to me on Instagram earlier this week and wanted to meet up to ride. We met in DTLA where he gave me a quick lay of the land considering it was only my second time riding there since the move. We grabbed some $5 Chinese food, found a place to eat it, then shot some photos and filmed a one day video that will come out next Wednesday (4.17.19). Mark your calendars and until then enjoy this photo set.

DEVIN TOLMAN – BRING BACK TRICK TRACK

April 10, 2019

Devin Tolman is your Portland connect if you’re ever looking for somebody to ride bikes and shoot photos with. He’s an avid photographer himself and is an excellent person to have around when it comes to camera questions & conversations. It’s always good having another set of eyes on deck.

Devin is one of the few homies I know who is runs a 650 up front (for obvious reasons) and has a true Tarck bike. His Thrasher is one of those iconic builds that really takes me back to 2009, before 26″ became a thing and everyone was still focused on keo tricks. It’s awesome to see things come full circle as another fixie resurgence begins to take shape and more people start building up 700c setups designed for tricks. Bring back trick track.

FIXED GEAR DASH CAM – NYC APRIL 2018

April 5, 2019

NYCBroadway to Williamsburg Bridge. This was filmed days after I got a GoPro / Gimbal setup and was one of the first times playing with it. I haven’t used the chest mount since, but after chopping this together, I think I’m going to have to. The camera height dropped midway, but hey we’re here to play. // 04.24.18

BIKE CHECK – MATT REYES’ MASH STEEL FRAME (SMOKE)

March 28, 2019

This bike has it all. The MASH STEEL FRAME has quickly become my favorite build and is the closest thing I’ve had to owning a trick track setup in a really long time. It parts the sea between all my bikes and is literally the perfect middle ground between being a fast track bike and a freestyle build that can handle it all, but most importantly… it can bar spin. I can already feel a resurgence of people looking for setups that have the clearance to kick flip. The MASH steel frame + a little longer fork can do just that. Word on the street is that MASH just got ahold of a few Volume Forks from different generations if you’re looking to upgrade. ‘ll put together a video bike check that goes into greater detail soon, but for now enjoy these studio photos and parts breakdown.

FGFS LA 2019 – FIRST SESSION IN TOWN

February 27, 2019

First off I’ll start by saying how good it feels being back in California. A place where the sun and weather are on your side. The Mexican food tastes fucking awesome and you can step outside in a t-shirt. All things I took for granted. Until now that is. I’ve been loading up on burritos and soaking up the sunshine now that both those things are readily available.

Last weekend I drove down to Norwalk to meet up w/ the boys. JBALL and Deacon Wong managed to get me in a car to actually drive to a spot. 9 Freeways later and there I was. Standing in a parking lot with Deacon waiting 2 hour for JBALL to arrive. Haha. Somebody get this mans a watch. It’s a good thing Deacon brought with him every toy imaginable: scooter, mini fixie, skateboard, etc. Actually that’s not that much, but in my mind he might as well have brought a pogo stick. All that being said, I’m glad he did because it really helped pass the time.

After sessioning some school for what felt like forever, we rode out in search of spots in neighborhood. First up was this rail that JBALL hopped with ease. (see photo for details) Then we went to this out ledge that was pretty rounded and made it difficult to grind. Stay on your grind. A young @CHASEFGFS came out and showed us what he’s made of. I snapped this sequence of him and wish I shot more because the kid is amazing. Once everyone had their fill, we made our way to the top of this parking garage where we ended the day. (Or at least I did, I think they went and rode a skatepark afterwards) On the drive home Slam Dunk Ernie talked about how much fun we had and some of the aireal clips we shot of Marco Marquez. We’ll have to do it again soon. Until next time fam.

BIKE CHECK – MATT REYES’ MASH AC-1

January 29, 2019

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, MASHSF finds a way to one up themselves. Presenting the first Aluminum Frame produced entirely by them. It looks good seeing that big logo. The frame set comes with a full carbon fork that they had custom molded for super tight clearance. This is by and far my favorite graphic color way they’ve released. There’s something about those grays that get me every time. Not to mention I’m a sucker for the whole film esthetic of theirs. Check out a full parts rundown and a handful of other images below.
